Clinton Waters

A former superintendent of Houston Schools will serve as interim high school principal for the remainder of the school year after the position was vacated today.

Acting superintendent Scott Dill said Clinton Waters will assume the position vacated by Brenda Dennis, who accepted a position with Memphis City Schools. Her last day was Tuesday

Dennis’ contract wasn’t renewed in February after it failed to receive a second motion from the school board and died without a vote. She had served one year in the district.

“We wish Ms. Dennis the best in her new position,” Dill said.

Waters was superintendent of Houston Schools for three years before retiring in 2008. He rejoined the district this school year as a high school science teacher.

Charlie Malam was named the new HHS principal in late February. His duties will begin July 1.
