A man's death in southeast Texas County was ruled a suicide Monday night.

A sizable contingent of law enforcement officers from the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a call at about 8 p.m. Monday regarding a body seen in the yard of a Highway AZ residence in southeast Texas County.

Lt. Melissa Dunn said that after a neighbor called and reported seeing a body that had been shot, five sheriff’s department officers, three troopers and a coroner went to the location prepared for a possible homicide investigation. When they arrived, they found the body of Sean Storr, 34, sitting in a lawn chair in his front yard having died of what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot. Storr was reportedly still clutching a pistol.

Among the officers responding to the potential homicide was Texas County Sheriff Carl Watson, who is in the midst of a battle with cancer.
