Houston High School runners Kayla Herndon and Taylor Korte both finished sixth in their respective events at Saturday’s Class 2 Sectional 3 in Fair Grove.

Herndon, a junior, ran the 100-meter hurdles in 18.1 seconds. Korte ran the 200 meters in 27.7

Emily Dearman ran the 100 hurdles in 15.2 to win the event. Kamryn Hutsell of Willow Springs was fourth.

Taylor Alumbaugh of El Dorado Springs won the 200 in 25.6 seconds. Grace Noble of Mountain View-Liberty finished third.

The Houston 4×100 relay team finished eighth in 53.7 seconds. Willow Springs won the event in 52 seconds.

Houston earned seven total points as a team to finish 20th among 24 teams. Pierce City won the girls’ team event with 80 points.

Lamar easily won the boys’ side with 126 points –– more than double second-place Stockton with 53 points.
