Ruth Perry of Success has recently had a Christian book published and will sign copies at two locations Monday in Houston.
Entitled “What If,” Perry’s book features 52 one-page devotionals based on her life experiences with family and friends and conveys scriptural messages using wit and humor. She will sign copies from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church on Hawthorne Street and then from 2-5 p.m. at the Texas County Library’s Houston branch on Walnut Street.
The book retails for $9.99 at select Christian stores, but will be available for $7 at Monday’s signing sessions.
“What If” is Perry’s first published book.
“It’s written for those who might need a little pep talk,” she said. “I was going through some difficult times in my life a when I wrote it a couple of years ago, and was wishing I could call someone or have something to encourage me. All of these devotionals are designed to encourage someone who might be going through a time like mine.”
When she began to write, Perry received a bit of advice that helped her continue.
“My friend read a couple of the little things I had written, and she told me she thought I should really pursue it because I had talent in writing,” she said. “Because of her encouragement, I kept going and it resulted in a book.”
Perry is a member of the Houston UMC and is currently working on a story about her experience of becoming a full time caregiver to her husband, who is a stroke survivor. To contact her, email ruthperry@centurytel.net.
