Rodney Aaron Hildebrand, 81, died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at Christian Health & Rehab in Hermitage.

He was born June 29, 1930, in Evening Shade, son of William Washington and Eva Mahala Cooper Hildebrand.

He grew up in the Long Hollow community. He attended Long Hollow School during his elementary years and also the Long Hollow church.

He served in the Army from May 1952 to February 1954 and was deployed to Korea. He received several medals –– three of them Bronze Service Stars.

He worked for the U. S. Forest Service. He enjoyed working with the youth crew in the summer, instructing them and just having fun. He often went to the schools to give presentations on the forest and wildlife.

He enjoyed growing vegetable and flower gardens. He was an outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed old western movies.

He was preceded in death by his parents and nine siblings, Elmer Hildebrand, Otto Hildebrand, Stella Hildebrand, Etta Hildebrand Rampani, Christena Hildebrand Routh, Iris Hildebrand Clark, Clearance Hildebrand, Dorsey Hildebrand and Paul Hildebrand.

Survivors include a sister, Agnes Hildebrand Eastin; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Services were Wednesday, May 30, at Roby Baptist Church with Pastor Brock Davis officiating. Burial was in Long Hollow Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
