The Houston school board accepted resignations and approved new employees during a closed session of Monday’s meeting.
Along with hiring Richard Rose as high school boys’ basketball coach and high school social students teacher, the board also voted to employ:
––John Buse, high school science.
––Sam Chilcut, middle school and high school special education.
––Amy Nichols, high school business.
––Tanya Bathon, middle school cheerleading sponsor.
––Roberta Sears, high school cheerleading sponsor.
––Stephanie Martin, middle school head volleyball coach and paraprofessional.
––Alyssa Smith, high school counselor.
Prior to the new hires, the board accepts resignations from: Judy Murray (middle school cheerleading); Angela Barnes (high school science and envirothon); Jodie Tottingham (middle school volleyball); Diane Leggett (bus driver); Sandy Cremer (assistant middle school volleyball); Randi Wilson (envirothon); Amber Clinton (paraprofessional); and Debbie Antrim (high school English).
Also during the closed session, members:
––Reviewed and approved a list of current coaches and sponsors for the 2012-’13 school year.
––Voted to employee Holly Atterberry as part-time middle and high school nurse. She will work two days a week. Jenny Sawyer will continue to serve three days a week in the position.
––Approved a salary of $55,000 for Jody Jarrett, high school assistant principal. The board also approved a $9,000 stipend for Jarrett as compensation for her duties as process coordinator for the district. She has been employed in that capacity for four years.
All board members –– Tadd McCloud, Jim Root, Doug Castleman, Sharon Horbyk, Sam Kelley, Jo Holland and Tom Dunn –– were present.
