Two persons were seriously injured in separate accidents in Texas County.

A Kansas man was seriously injured early Saturday in a Texas County wreck southeast of Mountain Grove.

Tpr. S. J. Crewse of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said a southbound 2007 Suzuki SUV driven by Roger E. Hicks, 24, of White City, Kan., lost control on a curve, ran off the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

Hicks, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

The vehicle totaled, said Crewse.

An Elk Creek man sustained serious injuries Friday evening when his 2000 Ford Escort ran off Highway H at his hometown.

Sgt. Jeff Kinder of the patrol said Timothy G. Adams, 18, was the driver of the eastbound car that overcorrected, ran off the left side of the road, struck a fence and a tree. Kinder said Adams’ vehicle ran off the highway because he was picking up a cell phone that he had dropped.

Adams, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.
