The Houston board of education approved five bids for the 2012-’13 school year during Monday’s meeting.
Awarded for services were: propane, Ferrellgas; paper, Sam’s Club; pest control, Stallcup Exterminating; dairy products, Top Gun, LLC; and bread products, Hostess.
Also during the meeting, members:
––Approved a request to construct a corral system behind the vocational building for the FFA. The board requested additional information regarding the exact specifications of the
project before construction begins.
––Heard Brandi Gentry will replace Kaye Cockrum as the director of the adult education and literacy learning center in July.
––Approved several Missouri School Boards’ Association policy updates. Superintendent Scott Dill said they are available in his office and will be on the district website when they are processed by MSBA.
––Received reports regarding discipline, fiscal management and extra- and co-curricular evaluation.
––Approved an updated copy of the elementary handbook for the upcoming school year.
––Went into closed session.
A special meeting will be held at 6 p.m. June 26, in the superintendent’s office to approve the budget. The next regularly scheduled board meeting is 6 p.m. July 10, at the exceptional child cooperative.
Board members Jim Root, Doug Castleman, Sharon Horbyk, Sam Kelley, Jo Holland and Tom Dunn were present. Tadd McCloud was not present.
