Jim Ray Eschrich, 85, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Mountain View.
He was born Aug. 30, 1926, near Montier, son of Carl and Rushie Marie Klipper. He and Murel Lene Beasley were married Oct. 24, 1953.
He drove a truck for Smith Flooring in Mountain View from 1952 until he retired in 1990. He covered more than 3.5 million miles in his 39-year career. He also ran the family farm alongside his wife, Murel, after they purchased it from his parents. They raised beef cattle.
He was a member and served as a deacon for Oakside Community Church.
He enjoyed teaching his children and grandchildren about raising beef cattle. He loved Sunday dinners with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Karlene McCall.
Survivors include his wife, Murel; a son, Michael of Summersville; a daughter, Debbie Tune of Summersville; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Hazel Smotherman of Independence; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Services were Sunday, June 17, at Oakside Community Church with the Rev. George Smith officiating. Burial was in the Oakside Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
