The City of Licking announced a burn ban Friday and cancellation of the community fireworks show due to extreme weather conditions.
Jimmy Sherrill, fire chief for the city and rural departments, sai dthe ban is immediate and will last until further notice.Â
The city said it has an ordinance prohibiting the use of fireworks within the city limits. This will be strictly enforced due to dangerous conditions.Â
“Our goal is to keep the citizens and their properties safe,” according to the statement.Â
Cabool also has cancelled its fireworks show July 4 and other activities.
