A man charged more than six years ago with injuring a then 3-year-old child was sentenced to life in prison last week.
Jamie P. Bell, 34, was charged with first-degree assault of a child, who sustained severe head injuries in January 2006.
The Texas County Sheriff’s Department and the Division of Children’s Services investigated the case, which involved the child of Bell’s then girlfriend.
According to court documents, a doctor told investigators that the child’s injuries indicated he had either been dropped from a height greater than 10 feet, was involved in a high velocity impact such as a car crash or had been shaken.
The case was heard on a change of venue in Phelps County. Circuit Court Judge Mary Sheffield sentenced Bell.
