Earlier: A 65-year-old man was shot in the stomach early Saturday afternoon after a gun apparently accidentally discharged while it was cleaned, authorities said.
The man was struck by a .40-caliber bullet.
The incident occurred near the end of Highway AF in northwest Texas County. The area is known as “Buckner’s Bottom.”
A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Texas County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
