The 61st annual Raymondville Picnic begins Thursday and runs through Saturday at the grounds off Highway B.
This year’s picnic marks the 50th anniversary of Bluff City Shows midway, which will offer rides, food and games. There is free parking.
Thursday night is the “Lewis Family Band.” Friday brings “South 63” and Saturday includes “Country Survival.”
The Blue Heaven Club will sell hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs and homemade cakes nightly. The Raymondville School PTO also will have food for sale. The Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor bingo games. The Houston Lions Club is doing hearing tests on Friday and Saturday.
On Thursday, the Licking FFA chapter will sponsor a petting zoo. There also will be a health fair in the community building.
On Friday, the first “A Taste of Home” competition is planned. The public is invited to bring its favorite homemade jellies and jams, salsas and cookies in the community building. Awards will be presented by Miss Texas County Shelby Ringdahl, who won second runner-up last week in the Miss Missouri Pageant. Saturday will feature a variety of arts and crafts for sale by local artisans. There also will be outdoor vendors during the picnic.
There also will be a special demonstration by the Silver Nickel Shooters on Friday.
The Raymondville Picnic begins Thursday, June 14, and continues through Saturday night at the fairgrounds off Highway B.
