Hundreds of volunteers are expected to gather today for Texas County Relay for Life in Houston’s Emmett Kelly Park.

The event runs from noon until midnight this year. Funds raised benefit the American Cancer Society. Throughout the year, teams raise funds in anticipation of the event.

Here is the schedule:

8 a.m. — Committee members meet and set up.

11:30 — Final team captains meeting.

Noon — Brief welcome and start, prayer, National Anthem and presentation of flags.

1 p.m. — Build your derby car.

2 – 3 p.m. — Minute to Win It.

3 p.m. — Car show and derby.

4-5 p.m. — HHS jazz band.

5-7 p.m. — Trivia.

7-8 p.m. — Celebrate ceremony with survivors.

7:30 p.m. — One performs

8-9 p.m. — Line dance power hour.

8:15 p.m. — Zumba.

9-10 p.m. — Remembrance ceremony with luminaria.

9:30 p.m. — One performs

10-11 p.m. — Paper, scissors tournament.

Midnight — Fight back closing ceremony.

Shuttle service will be available from Hiett Gymnasium, Evans Funeral Home and Crowley’s HomeWorks.
