The Big Piney River

There are several stream cleanups planned in the region this month.

They are: The sixth annual Upper Current River Cleanup and kayak giveaway: Saturday, June 16 (rain date June 30), registration is 8 to 9 a.m. at Cedar Grove, Akers or Pulltite. 

A barbecue supper will be served to participants at the Round Spring picnic pavilion at 6:30 p.m.  There will be a drawing for the kayak and prizes.  Information: Jack or Mary Ficker at 573-729-7065 or jack_maryficker@hotmail.com.

Upper Big Piney River Cleanup: Saturday, June 23, registration begins at 8 a.m. at Boiling Springs.  A barbecue and drawing for prizes begins at 3 p.m. at Boiling Springs for cleanup participants.  Contacts: camping — Scott at 573-368-9088 or scott.wade@raftvillecanoeco.com; registration—Debbie at drmiller55@yahoo.com or Peter at 417-967-0676.

Big Piney River Stream Team Watershed Association meeting and barbecue: Thursday, June 28, at the Happy Hollow picnic area on the Big Piney River at Fort Leonard Wood.  Networking begins at 4 p.m., barbecue at 5 p.m.  Program: FLW projects; discussion of stream team issues within the Big Piney River watershed.
