Revenue from a 1 percent sales collected by Houston merchants dropped about 3 percent from the same monthly period a year ago, the Missouri Department of Revenue says.
The tally was $59,544, which was down about $1,817 from the same monthly period a year ago. For the first five months of the year, the total is $270,871, which is up about $1,931 from 2011.
Three other sales taxes were off about 1 percent each from the same monthly period a year ago.
Revenue from two, quarter-cent sales taxes totaled about $14,600 each. Proceeds are used for street, sidewalk and utility work. An eighth-cent sales tax generated about $7,282 for debt repayment on a fire truck.
