A statewide census of people who qualify as homeless will take place Wednesday.
The Texas County Food Pantry works with the Governor’s Committee to End Homelessness to achieve accurate numbers for homeless in Texas County.
The Missouri Balance of State Continuum of Care collects information to determine local funding as well as national policy regarding those who are homeless.
“This project is one of the most important opportunities to help the homeless,” said Food Pantry Director Bennie Cook. “We are in need of volunteers to work with us on obtaining these numbers. We are here to help those individuals and families who need shelter.”
During last July’s count, there were 29 adults and 19 children in Texas County who were deemed homeless.
