A Houston man was seriously injured Saturday night when his motorcycle struck a deer at Simmons. It’s the third time this month a deer and motorcycle collided in Texas County.
Tpr. S. J. Crewse said a 2006 Yamaha Roadstar motorcycle driven southbound on U.S. 63 by Octavio “Oggie” Murillo, 64, struck the animal, ran off the ride side of the road, struck a road sign and overturned.
Murillo was airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. Members of the Houston Rural Fire Department responded at about 8:20 am. to assist with the landing zone.
The motorcycle was totaled, officers said. Murillo was wearing a helmet.
