A Houston man was hurt late Sunday night when his motorcycle struck a deer on U.S. 63 just north of Simmons.
Sgt. George Falterman said Phillip A. Rippenger, 48, was northbound when the mishap occurred.
Rippenger was transported by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital, Falterman said.
There was extensive damage to the 1997 Suzuki VS1400. Rippenger was wearing a helmet.
