Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants was down slightly during the latest monthly distribution period, the Missouri Department of Revenue reports.
The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $59,054, which was down about $800 from the same period a year ago. For the year, $329,926 has been collected. That’s up about $1,133 from the same five months a year ago.
The city also collects two, quarter-cent sales tax used for roads, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $14,400 for the month. An eighth-cent sales tax for debt retirement on a fire truck netted about $7,200
