A 67-year-old Licking man faces multiple charges following an incident Friday that authorities say involved a loaded gun and alcohol.
A Texas County Sheriff’s Department officer was dispatched at about 9 p.m. to a Hillcrest Street residence at Licking after a woman who lives there reported that her boyfriend had threatened her 44-year-old son, who also resides there.
The son reportedly told the officer that when he had gone inside the residence to get a light bulb, the suspect accused him of being a thief and threatened to shoot him.
The son said he went back outside and the suspect waved a rifle at him. The mother confirmed the threat, telling the officer the suspect had said he was going to “blow his brains out.” She showed the weapon to the officer – a 30/30 lever-action rifle that had a live round in its chamber and three in its magazine.
The officer stated that the suspect smelled of alcohol and urinated on the kitchen floor while he was being handcuffed. A probable cause statement seeking charges of unlawful use of a weapon and third-degree domestic assault was to be sent to the county prosecutor.
