Houston police and firefighters responded July 4 at Airport Road and Spruce Street in Houston where a grass fire had reportedly been started by fireworks.
After an investigation following the 7 p.m. call, police issued a citation for discharging fireworks within the city limits to Blythe W. Brotherton, 17, of 10147 Buckhollow Drive, at Licking.
A 14-year-old Houston boy was also reportedly involved, and a report was to be forwarded to the county juvenile office.
The following are other matters recently dealt with by Houston police:
June 21
––Paul B. Preece, 36, of 4293 Highway M at Cabool, was arrested on active warrants in Webster County and Douglas County. An officer made the arrest after a probation officer called to report that a wanted client was in the local probation office.
The Webster County warrant was for passing a bad check and the Douglas County one was for child neglect.
July 3
––Dalton L. Hall, 19, of 18705 Highway H at Elk Creek, was issued a citation on charges of careless and imprudent driving after an officer observed the gold Chevrolet flatbed truck Hall was driving break traction and fishtail as it left the parking lot of a gas station and head south on U.S. 63 at about 6:45 p.m.
July 4
––Darien T. W. Hale, 18, of 19675 Highway 32 at Licking, was issued a citation for failure to drive on the right half of the roadway after an officer observed the black 1993 Pontiac Firebird Hale was driving westbound on Highway 17 travel for about 40 yards in the eastbound lane.
July 6
––Brian Farrar, 30, of 16148 Horseshoe Drive at Houston, was arrested for having an active Texas County warrant charging him with stealing more than $500 but less than $25,000. An officer who was aware of the warrant made the arrest just after midnight after observing Farrar leaving a convenience store on U.S. 63.
Farrar was taken to the Texas County Jail where he was unable to post $150,000 bond.
July 7
––Jeffrey J. Canturbury, 37, of 16045 Decker Road at Licking, was arrested for having an active Texas County warrant for failure to produce insurance identification. An officer made the arrest after observing the gold Pontiac Grand Prix Canturbury was driving parked at a Sam Houston Boulevard location with its headlights on at about 1:10 a.m.
After the officer made contact with Canturbury, a routine computer check revealed the warrant.
