The Missouri Rural Water Association has announced that it will conduct a pharmaceutical drug take-back event Saturday, Sept. 29, in Houston.
As part of the Drug Enforcement Administration Office of Diversion Control’s fifth annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, the event will occur 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walmart.
The idea is to encourage safe, legal disposal of unwanted or outdated drugs, and deter the disposal of them by flushing down toilets, dumping in waterways or landfills, burying or any other means that might foul groundwater supplies.
“This gets the job done right without causing any harm to anyone else,” Houston Police Chief Jim McNiell said.
The event is co-hosted by the Houston Police Department and the Big Piney River Stream Team Watershed Association.
