Texas County sales tax revenue finished down for the first six months of the year.

Revenue from three half-cent sales taxes collected by Texas County merchants each fell about 7.6 percent during the latest monthly period, the Missouri Department of Revenue said.

The tallies from each tax totaled about $84,100. That’s down about $6,900 each from the same period a year ago.

For the first half of the year, more than $470,000 has been collected on each of the trio. That’s down about $9,000 on each from the same six-month period a year.

The reports are considered a good barometer of economic activity.
