Susie Lee Wood, , 88, daughter of Ernest Lee and Susannaha Elizabeth (Bowman) Robinson, was born July 9, 1923, in Kansas City, Mo. She passed away July 2, 2012, at Houston House, Houston, Mo.
Susie was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, William Ernest Hamilton; one daughter, Ethel Elizabeth Hunt; three grandchildren, Faith and John Williams and one baby boy, Hunt; two brothers, Joe and Jim Robinson; and two sisters, Nelda Lemasters and Maxine Yeager,
She is survived by one son, Howard Hamilton Jr. of Smithville, Mo.; one daughter, Susan Williams of Yukon, Mo.; one brother, Jacob Robinson of Independence, Mo.; one sister, Rosemary Davis of Warsaw, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
She married Howard A. Hamilton in 1940. Later in life, she married Roy Wood.
Susie was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering and creating special quilts that were often given to her family and friends. She was a good cook, many times inviting family and friends over to share a meal with her. She did a lot of canning and this also meant giving away from her storehouse of goods.
The most precious time of all for Susie was being with her grandkids. She loved each and every one. They called her “Granny” and time spent with them was very special.
She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services were 2 p.m. Friday July 6, 2012, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor John Colbert officiating. Pallbearers were Curt Steelman, David Owens, Shawn Hamilton, Chris Hamilton, John Hamilton and William Howard Hamilton. Burial was in Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
