Local authorities spent more than an hour Monday night searching for a plane that a witness believed may have crashed in a field near Houston.
Lt. Melissa Dunn of the Texas County Sheriff’s Department said a 911 caller, who was traveling northbound on Highway 17 shortly after 9 p.m., reported seeing an airplane flying low near the highway, flashing its lights and banking to the right over the pasture. The caller feared the plane had crashed, Dunn said.
Multiple agencies –– the sheriff’s department, Texas County Rescue Squad and Missouri State Highway Patrol –– responded to the area and canvassed nearby pastures and gravel roads near Faith Fellowship. An ambulance from Texas County Memorial Hospital also reported to the area.
An Air Evac helicopter also responded and flew patterns over the search area, Dunn said.
Dunn said authorities searched for about one hour, 30 minutes
