Citizens are invited to join a community choir that may perform as often as twice a year.
Organizational meetings are 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, and Thursday, Aug. 30, in the choir room in the northwest corner of Hiett Gymnasium on the Houston Schools campus. The choir will be under the direction of Houston High School choir director Beth Williamson.
Preliminary plans are for the choir to rehearse once or twice a month at a time and date to be established at the organizational meeting. At least two performances a year are initially planned: Christmas and Fourth of July, with a variety of music for the occasion. Vocalists from Houston and the surrounding area are invited to participate.
Early surveying indicated a number of individuals interested in committing to combine their talents in a community effort.
