New traffic flow patterns on city streets near the Houston School District campus are in place.
City Administrator Larry Sutton said Friday that motorists need to be alert to the changes: Eastbound traffic near Houston High School has the option of continuing straight on Ozark Avenue or turning left near a new triangle at Pine and Ozark and continuing on to Pine and First streets.
New sidewalks, cross walks and bicycle paths are the result of a City of Houston grant received. A Salem firm is the contractor for the “Safe Routes to School” project, and Sutton said work planned before the launch of school is ahead of schedule. The project is slated for completion in three to four weeks.
