The Houston Ministerial Alliance announced a "Prayer Zone Challenge" Aug. 26 for Tiger Stadium.

The Houston Ministerial Alliance invites the community to a “Prayer Zone Challenge” at the Houston High School football field to help kickoff a county-wide effort.

The event is 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26, inside Hiett Gymnasium.

Ed Edington, president of the Houston Ministerial Alliance says the event centers on a community praying for students, faculty, support staff, administration and board members.

“In each community, school zones and crossings are clearly marked with signs to alert drivers to exercise caution because of the presence of children and students. These same school zone signs can also serve as a reminder for all of us to pray for our schools as we pass through them,” Alliance member Bill Villapiano said.

The alliance’s vision is to make Texas County schools the most prayed over schools in south-central Missouri. “For this reason we are asking that those who have a heart for young people and who support our schools come and pray strategically for the schools in their area. The prayer zone’s goal is to initiate ongoing prayer throughout the school year,” said Edington.
