A Houston teenager was issued a citation for animal abuse after allegedly beating a chicken to death at about 8 p.m. Sunday night in Emmett Kelly Park, Houston police said.
Blythe Brotherton, 17, of Tiffany Drive in Houston, was cited by the Houston Police Department after allegedly killing a chicken that had escaped from a cage at a 50-year-old Houston man’s Main Street residence. Brotherton killed the bird by striking it several times with his hat after finding it lying among weeds in the park, according to a report.
Police reported that the incident was witnessed by a 12-year-old girl who was walking at the park. The girl informed her father, who then told the bird’s owner, who subsequently called the police and indicated he did want to pursue charges.

Aug. 7
––Joshua C. Perkins, 18, of 1556 Oakdale Road at Cabool, was issued a citation on charges of unlawful use of a credit device after allegedly using a Houston woman’s credit card number to make online purchases.
––Tracy L. Cook, 41, and Kaitlyn S. Cook, 18, both of 16063 Highway N in Licking, were each issued a citation for stealing under $500 after being caught attempting to shoplift at the Houston Walmart, according to a report.
Aug. 14
––Leigh Anne McCown, 33, of 14497 Boiling Springs Road at Licking, was arrested on an active City of Licking warrant for failure to return rental property. An officer made the arrest after a traffic stop. McCown was taken to the Texas County Jail, where she posted $500 bond.
Aug. 19
Robert M. Pratt Jr., 31, of 2718 Perkins Lane at Mountain Grove, was issued a citation for failure to obey after an incident at about 1:45 a.m. at a Bryan Street home in which he was allegedly banging on windows and yelling at residents.
