A Cabool man drowned late Saturday afternoon in a private pond, the Missouri State Water Patrol said.
Delfred L. “Butch” Roberts, 52, was swimming in a private pond, went under water while returning to shore and never resurfaced, authorities said. Members of the water and state patrols responded.
He was pronounced dead at the scene off Stave Mill Road — about two miles west of Cabool — by Texas County Coroner Thomas Whittaker.
Services are under the direction of Evans Funeral Home, Houston.
