Judges with the Missouri Community Betterment Program will tour Houston on Wednesday, Sept. 19, as part of the city’s competition in the annual contest.
Judges Darrell Martin of Lincoln University and John Robinson of Caledonia will review progress in the community during the last year.
Five projects will be highlighted during the 3:15 to 5:30 p.m. visit: Lone Star Plaza’s pavilion, Safe Routes to School transportation improvements and biking equipment for the kindergarten, a theater presentation at the community building, volunteers who are manning the welcome center and a tree improvement project at Emmett Kelly Park.
Houston Community Betterment Y.O.U.T.H. will describe two programs, a Christmas adopt-a-child effort and Valentine’s Day flower deliveries to the county hospital and Houston House.
The public is invited.
A bus tour highlighting industrial parks, hospital work and new sidewalks is planned at 4 p.m.
