Dorothy Wheat

Dorothy Ellen Adams Wheat, 95, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012.

She was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Niataze, Kan., daughter of Earl Clyde and Eliza Mae Lumley Adams. She and Arvil Jackson Ice were married Aug. 5, 1929, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died in 1973. She married John Crisp in 1978. He died in 1989. She then married V.O. White in 1991. He died in 1999.

She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1937. She enjoyed serving Him through singing, composing songs and poetry, sharing the Word, witnessing, meeting the needs of others and offering her testimony.

She was a seamstress. She created many originally designed and sewn garments.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; two brothers, Clyde and Richard; two sons, Larry and Gary; and a daughter, Margaret.

Survivors include a daughter, Maxine Scott of Springfield; four sons, Gene Ice of Yellville, Ark., Loyd Ice of Sedalia, John Ice of Mountain Grove and Edward Ice of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Burt Sly of Des Moines, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; many great- and great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and many friends.

Services were Monday, Sept. 24, at Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home with Loyd Ice officiating. Burial was in Ozark Cemetery.
