Doyle Dewayne Garrison, 84, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, in Tyler, Texas.

He was born May 16, 1928, in Raymondville, son of Edd and Etheyl Hill Garrison. He and Marjorie Crum Garrison were married April 8, 1954.

He entered the Army in January 1951 and served in the Korean War. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with a bronze service star and a United Nations Service Medal. He was honorably discharged Jan. 8, 1953.

He was a devoted Christian and pastored for many years in Missouri and Oklahoma. He had a passion for the lost and a desire to bring the good news of our Savior Jesus Christ to as many people as possible.

He loved to fish the rivers of Missouri and lakes of Texas, especially with his sons and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margie; and a sister, Lois Troutman.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Garrison of Troup, Texas, Dennis Garrison of Fulton and Ron Garrison of Westminster, S. C.; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at Boone Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Garrison and Pastor Bob Karnes officiating. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at Evans Funeral Home. Burial will be in Boone Creek Cemetery.
