A Plato man was issued citations by the Houston Police Department early last Saturday morning after reportedly being given a chance to avoid charges but then giving officers no choice but to charge him.
Kevin L. Massey, 43, of 14427 Gentry Lane at Plato, was cited for driving while intoxicated (prior offender) and driving while revoked after a traffic stop at about 2:10 a.m. on First Street.
An officer made the stop after observing a Dodge Dakota pickup traveling down an alley without its headlights on. About a half hour earlier, officers had seen Massey get into the same truck outside a downtown bar and start it while appearing to be drunk. They offered Massey a courtesy ride to a residence on Sugar Maple Drive where he was told to stay and sober up, but he returned to the truck and attempted to drive it away.
Massey was taken to the Texas County Jail.
