Game notes for the HHS Tigers’ football game against Ava.

TIGER TIDBITS: Curtis Woolsey and Austin Keeney led the HHS defense with five tackles apiece against Thayer. Drake Bell had the team’s lone tackle for a loss. …Sophomore Scott Logan had four kickoff returns for 55 yards. His longest was 26 yards.

ABOUT AVA: The Bears are 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the South Central Association following Friday’s 23-20 loss to Salem. Ava has defeated Logan-Rogersville (14-12) and Mountain View-Liberty (27-26). The Bears have been defeated by Aurora (27-6), Mountain Grove (36-12) and Salem. …Houston figures to see plenty of Ava running back Kyle Clinkingbeard. He led the area with 1,888 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns last season. He had 32 carries for 221 yards last year against the Tigers. “If he breaks free, I don’t think we have anyone who can catch him,” HHS coach Billy O’Neil said. …Ava has won the last three meetings with the Tigers by scores of 47-7 (2011), 46-0 (2010) and 33-7 (2009). Houston last won in 2008 by a score of 28-26 at Ava. That victory was part of a 3-0 start for the Tigers and was the program’s last winning season.
