Gerlene “Gerri” Trentham, 79, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at her home near Licking.
She was born March 24, 1933, near Glennon, daughter of Henry John Thele and Matilda Ann Koening Thele. She and John Hobart Trentham were married June 27, 1953.
She lived in Kirkwood before moving with her husband to Licking in June 1965.
She graduated from Leopold High School. She worked at the local shoe factory during high school. After moving to Kirkwood, she worked for South Western Bell Telephone. In Licking, she worked six years at Rawlings Sporting Goods and later worked for Fox Funeral Home.
She was president of the Licking V.F.W. Post #6337 Ladies Auxiliary for six years.
She enjoyed camping, antiquing and fish fries with friends and family. She loved going on trips with her husband to Branson and trips with her friends. She enjoyed decorating for holidays, Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William Thele, Richard Thele and Jacob Thele; and three sisters, Marcella Jentch, Juletta Thele and Imogene Carter.
Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Hobart, of the home; four children, Dan of Licking, Tom of Iberia, Bob of Ozark and Cheryl Floyd of Licking; four granddaughters; five grandsons; 12 great-grandchildren; four brothers, John Thele of Scopus, Robert Thele of Jackson, Harry Thele of Fruitland and Kenneth Thele of Glennon; two sisters, Evelyn Conner of Festus and Judy Stause of Glennon; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mass was Tuesday, Sept. 18, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Licking with Fr. Dan Hirtz officiating. Interment was in Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
