The Houston R-1 School District recently received a donation of 250 back-to-school sackpacks from the Office Depot Foundation.
The group donated 5,000 colorful, cord-style sackpacks to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, which includes its affiliate, the Houston Community Foundation, and the Houston R-1 Educational Foundation.
The sackpacks were distributed to students at Title I schools in Joplin, Springfield and the south-central region served by the CFO’s office in West Plains. The sackpacks contained some start-up supplies like pencils and small scissors.
The Office Depot Foundation’s donation of the 5,000 sackpacks for Ozarks schools is part of its 2012 National Backpack Program. Since 2001, Office Depot has donated more than 2.9 million backpacks and sackpacks to children around the world.
