Sophomore Olivia Woosley and the HHS softball team received the second seed for the Class 2 District 3 Tournament.

The Houston High School softball tournament received the No. 2 seed for next week’s Class 2 District 3 Tournament.

The Lady Tigers and Willow Springs, the top-seeded teams, both received first-round byes. They will begin district play in Thursday’s semifinals.

Houston (9-3) and Willow Springs (10-6) are easily the top teams in the district. The remaining four teams have a combined record of 7-55.

The tournament, which is hosted at Mountain Grove High School, begins Wednesday with first-round matchups between Mountain Grove (2-14) and Mountain View-Liberty (2-16) on the top half of the bracket and Gainesville (3-13) and Plato (0-12) on the bottom half.

Willow Springs will face the Mountain Grove-Liberty winner at 4 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Tigers will face Gainesville or Plato at 6 p.m. Thursday. The championship game is 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Willow Springs edged Houston 4-3 in last year’s semifinals en route to the district title. The teams will play for the first time this season today.

Gainesville (3-13) vs. Plato (0-12), 6 p.m.

Thursday’s games

Willow Springs (10-6) vs. MG-Liberty winner

Houston (9-3) vs. Gainesville-Plato winner, 6 p.m.

Friday’s game

Championship, 4:30 p.m.
