The Houston High School volleyball team cruised past Ava 25-8, 25-11 on the road Tuesday.

It was the third straight victory for the Lady Tigers (4-6), who also won their opening South Central Association match.

Senior Alexa Ichord had a team-best six kills and five assists. Amber Sillyman led HHS with nine assists. Desiree Venable and Sarah Garrett had four aces apiece.

“They really pushed and finished the match,” Lady Tigers coach Skye Carrasquillo said. “They kept their intensity the entire match.”

On Thursday, Houston slipped past Conway 25-23, 26-24 on the road.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Freshman Sarah Kelley had nine kills and seven aces in the JV Lady Tigers’ 19-25, 25-15, 25-18 victory Tuesday at Ava.

Camryn Scheets had 10 assists and Nora Dixon added nine. Scheets and Hayley Walker had four kills apiece. Sammy Garrett and Shelby Cremer both had three aces.
