Mary Almeda Sudheimer, 95, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield following a fall that fractured her spine.

She was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Blooming Rose, daughter of Dennis Matthews and Mary Stevens. She married Otis Lee Karr. He died in 1944. She later married William “Bill” Lewis Sudheimer on Dec. 5, 1945. He died Nov. 20, 1984.

She was adopted as a child by Elijah Francis and Frances Adie Blake of Mooney Hollow.

She and Bill worked many years at Fort Leonard Wood. They lived on a farm in Slabtown before moving in 1963 to Licking. She spent her last seven years at Landmark Villa.

She was a member of the Eastern Stars. She received many civil service awards during her years of service at Fort Leonard Wood.

She was an active member of the Licking Pentecostal Church, where she played the piano.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Leanna Karr; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include two children, Phyllis McClure of Crane and Wilma Gazaway of Lake St. Louis; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Sunday, Sept. 9, at Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Jett officiating. Burial was in Licking Cemetery.
