Headstone stolen

It turns out the missing headstone from Pine Lawn Cemetery wasn’t actually missing.

After the Houston Police Department released information Tuesday afternoon that it was seeking a stolen two-foot headstone from the grave of Eric Cross, Chief Jim McNiell said Cross’ son contacted authorities to inform them he had removed the headstone.

According to McNiell, the son said he wanted to put additional engravings on the headstone, which already features a Dallas Cowboys helmet and a horse. McNiell said the son lives in Rolla and was contacted after police sought information from the public.

McNiell advised the public to contact family members and authorities in situations like this one.
