Sales tax revenue reported in Houston during first eighth months of the year is up.

Revenue from sales taxes collected in Houston increased about 15 percent from the same period a year ago, according to the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The tally from a one-cent sales tax was $65,614, a jump of about $8,574 from the same monthly period a year ago. For the eight months of the year, $440,371 has been collected. That’s up about $8,818 from a year ago.

The total from two quarter-cent sales taxes was $15,897 each, an increase of $1,960 each from 2010. An eighth-cent sales tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $7,948.
