Houston Invitational

Taylor Franklin had four hits and Kayla Kelley homered as the Houston High School softball team trounced Seymour 11-1 Monday.

The Lady Tigers (5-2) pounded out a season-best 20 hits as they bounced back from last week’s loss to Salem. Every player had at least one hit.

Franklin went 4-for-5 with a triple and stolen base to pace the offense. Freshman Autumn Walker and Kaylea Preheim had three hits apiece.

Walker, Franklin, Kelley and Olivia Woosley all scored twice.

Kelley hit a two-run homer over the center-field fence as part of a three-run first inning.

Ahead 4-1, HHS scored four times in the fifth to take a commanding lead. Hailey Dodson doubled in the frame.

Kelley struck out three in the complete-game victory.
