William Turner Mattison, 81, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, in Mountain View

He was born Dec. 15, 1930, in Arroll, son of Lemon Leota “Tude” and Lula Hooberrry Mattison. He and Iva Mae Burks were married Dec. 19, 1951, in Mountain View.

He was a member of the Midvale Church and Mountain View Saddle Club. He worked more than 50 years as a carpenter. Later in life, he and his wife raised Akitas and working on the family farm.

He loved horses and gardening. He enjoyed visiting and spending time with his family and friends. Music, singing and laughter were always apart of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Julia Conaway, Olive Plank, Electa Martin, Bonnie McCulloch and Betty Porter; and three brothers, Bertis, Carl and Leota Mattison.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Iva; three children, Fred Mattison of Summersville, Shirley Brooks of Bourbon and Jack Mattison of Orlando, Fla.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family members.

Services were Tuesday, Sept. 18 at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Emmett and the Rev. James Bradford officiating. Burial was in Arroll Cemetery.
