“The Fight for Texas County,” packed with Civil War re-enactment activities, is planned for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27-28.

Sponsored by the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce, the event at the organization’s fairgrounds on North U.S. 63 is organized by local residents who participate across the state in Civil War activities.

The schedule for Saturday:

9 a.m. — Camps open to the public

10:30 a.m. — Ladies tea social

1 p.m. — Battle re-enactment

7 p.m. — Civil War ball, period dancing with ladies in ball gowns and soldiers by their side.

8 p.m. — Night fire artillery

52nd Regimental String Band performance

Sunday:

9 a.m. — Camps open to the public

10 a.m. — Period church service

1:30 p.m. — Battle re-enactment

There is free admission. A parking fee of $5 will be assessed.
