Danny Eugene Shockley, 60, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, following a battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 17, 1951, in Prineville, Ore., son of Jack and Nadine Shockley. He and Deborah Derryberry were married Aug. 27, 1972.
He grew up in Summersville and graduated from high school in 1968. He served in the Army from 1971 to 1972 and was stationed in Vietnam.
After returning from the service, he and his wife moved to Branson. He completed an education degree at School of the Ozarks. He was a teacher, coach and principal for more than 30 years at Summersville Schools.
He had a deep love for his Lord and Savior and served as a teacher, deacon and elder at the First Christian Church of Summersville.
He loved spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. His family often went to Norfork Lake for fishing, boating and camping out.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie of the home; two daughters, Michelle Miley of Winona and Angie Jester of Cabool; a son, Brad Shockley of Cabool; nine grandchildren; his mother, Nadine of Summersville; a brother, Richard Shockley of Summersville; and a host of other family members.
Services were Monday, Oct. 15, at First Christian Church in Summersville with the Rev. Paul Hamm officiating. Burial with military honors was in Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
