A Summersville man who was a former temporary employee at the Ozark National Scenic Riverways was sentenced to federal prison and ordered to register as a sex offender for video voyeurism, authorities said.
Randon Wayne Crane, 32, was sentenced to three months imprisonment. Upon completion of the term of imprisonment, Crane will be placed on federal supervised release for one year. Since the victim of the crime was a minor, Crane is required to register as a sex offender for 15 years.
During his plea, Crane admitted that on July 30, 2010, he photographed a 16-year-old female using a shower facility located in a campground. While taking a shower in one of the shower rooms, the minor female noticed a light from a cellular phone coming from an opening located just above the floor and beneath the showerhead. When the girl reached down to pick up the phone, the cell phone disappeared. Crane admitted he was the person controlling the phone and that he photographed the minor female prior to her reaching down for the phone.
This case was investigated by the Investigative Services Branch of the National Park Service. Assistant United States Attorney Abbie Crites-Leoni handled the prosecution for the government.
Ozark National Scenic Riverways immediately retrofitted the shower enclosures to insure these types of incidents would not be repeated.
