A local group is hosting a night run this month through the streets of Houston.

The “Light Up The Darkness” 5K is Saturday, Oct. 27, at Undivided Hearts. The event will include a bonfire, music and costume contests.

Participants will collect glow sticks as they run or walk the course that begins at the corner of First and Chestnut streets and winds behind the airport. The race will begin and end at the Undivided Hearts building.

Cost for the fun run is $25 and includes a LED bracelet and T-shirt for those registered by Oct. 18. Forms may be dropped off to Jeff McNiell at the Houston Herald, Cody Neugebauer at Rod’s Auto or Laura Crowley at Crowley’s Homeworks.

Prizes will be awarded for brightest, most original, team and best-dressed kid. Organizers say no scary costumes or inappropriate outfits will be allowed.

Registration along with music and the bonfire begins at 6 p.m. Costume judging starts at 7:30 p.m. Walkers and runners will leave at 8 p.m.
