Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Collections of sales taxes by Houston merchants dropped during the latest monthly period, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Revenue from a one-cent sales tax was about $50,065, which was down $4,160 from the same period a year ago. For the first nine months of the year, the tally is $490,436, which is up $4,658 from a year ago.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes earmarked for streets, sidewalks and utilities totaled each about $12,030, which was down about $916 from a year ago. For the year, $118,189 has been collected on both.

An eighth-cent tax for debt repayment on a fire truck totaled $6,015.
